  John K. Harseny (1920-2000) was the economist who, along with John Nash and Reinhard Selten, won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 1994 for his research in the field of the theory of games, mathematical system for a prediction of results of competitions and conflicts.   Been born in 1920 in Budapest to the Jewish druggist, Harsanyi endured nazi occupation of Hungary; he and his future wife ran away from more and more communist regime of the country in 1950, having broken through to Australia before to arrive to the United States.   He also published four books. The general Theory of the Choice of Balance in Games (1988) was collaboration with Reinhard Selten. 

Additional notes

  Harsanyi remained in Berkeley for other part of his career. He also had an honourable doctor's degree from Northwest university. He was the member of National academy of Sciences and several societies of the economist.

  John Harseny died on August 9, 2000, of heart attack, in Berkeley.
